Just A Voice on Main Street: A Few Important Questions about the Trump Presidency.

Are you trying to understand Donald Trump? Good luck!  For those trying to do that on a daily basis, be careful; you may need some counseling later if you are not already there.  In the meantime, here are some questions that are most intriguing or disturbing to his supporters and non supporters for that matter.  What are your thoughts

First up, Is he becoming one of the type of politicians, Democrat or Republican, he was voted in to replace?  So many are asking that question this past week as many have watched him pivot to apparently work with the opposition party led by Schumer and Pelosi on solutions that seem contrary to what he ran on to become president? In short, Is Washington watering down his resolve as it has done to so many and dragging him into the political swamp?

OR,  Is he playing both sides against the middle which he sees as pragmatic solutions which have no ideological basis with either party, or conservatives or liberals?  Upon the announcement of working with Democrats, Republicans are rushing to come up with tax relief or cut and Obamacare replacement programs.  Maybe he is trying to get the status quo off their political “duffs.”  For Democrats, maybe they have come to realize that chasing Trump around has become an exercise not dissimilar to a dog chasing his tail.  President Trump possibly realizes that both parties are up against the political wall called the mid-terms of 2018, and that both need something to show for their existence.

OR, Maybe it is as simple as wanting someone to like him and treat him nicely?  After 50 plus years in business, is he so used to people kowtowing to him that the idea of those working with him in government not feeling the same way about him is diving him crazy? That would explain the quick turnover of people who have worked with him so far in government.

OR Maybe he is just taking time to size up how to apply his understanding of the private sector to the public sector with which he is now connected?  Outsiders have not been welcome in Washington for a long time.  Those who have gone there have been forced to play by the rules of those in control.  They have created the rules of the game which have allowed them to retreat into a cocoon of power.  Can you imagine an outsider not understanding, or worse, not abiding by those rules.  Maybe Trump is that entity that the Status Quo Powerbrokers and Rulesmakers most detest and fear?  This might explain why he seems to relish the idea of keeping everyone uneasy, and off balance while he “bones up” on the game of politics, and political dealing?

The Final Question and most important  one I might offer, “Is he in control of situations or are they in control of him?”  If you can get away from your hate or love of him, it is the one that will deserve most of your analysis, and has yet to be answered in my opinion.  In the meantime, take two tylenol and call for a psycho analysis in the morning…..Gary Sutton.
