York City Mayor Michael Helfrich has announced his choice for the new chief of police. Current Chief Troy Bankert will retire in January after 21-years of service. On Tuesday, Helfrich selected the Deputy Chief of Reading Police Department, Osborne “Moe” Robinson III. Robinson has worked in law enforcement for 27-years with most of that in the Baltimore City Police Department. Over the years, the graduate of the FBI National Academy implemented various community programs including a youth flag football league, a student enrichment program. Robinson also developed a homeless outreach team connecting services to the homeless. Bankert has been York City’s Police Chief since 2018.
